Itchy eyes after trying contact lenses

Hi all,

I tried contact lenses for the first time this week. Had an appointment at the optician to try putting them in and taking them out which went fine. That day I wore them for just four hours at their recommendation before taking them out again.

Didn't wear them yesterday but noticed in the late afternoon (so a full day after I'd taken them out) that both eyes were quite itchy. They're still a little itchy today and one had a tiny bit of dried discharge when I woke up.

Perhaps I'm being sensitive to the itching (it's not that bad - maybe I wouldn't normally notice) and/or it's a coincidence? I was entirely supervised by the optician other than when I took them out at home and made sure my hands were clean so I'd be surprised if it were an infection?

I haven't put the lenses back in - best to just wait until my next appointment next week and talk to the optician? Thank you!

They might just be a bit dry, you can get dry eye drops from the chemist.

No, I wouldn't put them. back in until you see the Optom next week. There will be other types you can try instead.
