Hi, I have written about this before but go no responses. Have been having water infections for long time and was referred to Urologist - have now had scans and xrays which were clear but now have to have "dilation of the urethera" or in my terms stretching the tube you wee thru (sorry if TMI). Has anyone had this done or can tell me what to expect as I am dreading it and just wondered if anyone could help in any way

Hi, was looking for topic on rash for my 2 year old and came across your topic and thought I would give you some reassurance. Cannot speak from a female point of view but basically my partner did not have a urinary infection but the hole at the end of his penis was found to be slightly small which caused his wee to fly off in all directions periodically which as you can imagine could be a bit messy!! Anyway in a nut shell he had an op to stretch his pipes if you like and was done under general and he was a little sore obviously after op but not for long. Unfortuantely, for him the stretch did not last and he now has to do the procedure at home every few days by passing a tube up his willy basically, he was given a cream to numb the area intially but never uses it now and does not find it uncomfortable in the slightest. Hope this helps

I have had this done, whilst they did a cystoscopy. I was put had GA so was not awake. I never felt any pain afterwards.

I get lots of UTIs, in fact have one at the mo(sad) and I have an appointment with the Gynaeurology consultant tomorrow for further urodynamics. Thats if the UTI has cleared!

Have you got to wait long for it?

thanks for the replies, I think I will be having a similar procedure that your partner had, have googled it and it does not sound very nice, I hope it is done under general and under local will notbe very pleasant why is it always us ladies and our bits that suffer!
