Had the usual cold and stuffiness the last few days then when we woke up this morning I noticed his chest/stomach were chugging like the last time he was in hospital. Dp took him in about an hour go i've had to stay here to take dd to school also I can't drive so me taking him wasn't an option. Just rang dp and ds is in observation they have given him steroids but it looks like they'll keep him in. I'll go there later if they keep him in, I hate this time of yearfor illness.

RubySlippers · 20/11/2007 07:55

wishing him a speedy recovery

hayCHingleBells · 20/11/2007 07:55

bless, how old is he?

And, yes what was the problem last time?

LedodgyDickinson · 20/11/2007 07:56

Last time it was respiratory reaction to a virus basically since he had bronciolitis last January everything goes to his chest which can happen for around 2 years after an attack. They're reluctant to diagnose asthma as normally he isn't out of breath when active etc. He has got a blue inhaler but it doesn't do very much.

He's two on Sunday.

My DS had a couple of bouts of bronchilitis last year and he got an inhaler - tis horrible

I am sure he will be much better for his birthday ...

Oh dear - hope he is ok. At least he is in the right place.

(It's DH's birthday on Sunday too!)

LedodgyDickinson · 20/11/2007 08:10

Yes i'm glad about that Buda because I'm never too sure about whether to take him in or not especially as he was quite happy in himself. Last time the doctors said he was the sickest child on the ward but a very happy wheezer!

Chesty things can go downhill so quickly that it's prob best to err on side of caution. Lol a "happy wheezer"!

lulumama · 20/11/2007 08:15

hope he is on the mend soon and this has been caught before he gets too poorly x

aDadGoneMad · 20/11/2007 08:18

Although hospital is far from ideal, you will feel some peace of mind that he is in the right place for the best care. With a bit of luck they may not keep him in long.

It is stressful though, we get the same thing with dd1. As you said it's not a nice time of year!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/11/2007 08:19

I hope your ds is better soon.

geekgirl · 20/11/2007 08:20

oh, the dreaded bronchiolitis and its after-effects.
Dd2 had this too as well as an impaired immune system, and like you said everything would go to her chest really badly for a couple of years afterwards. We were convinced she had some kind of chronic lung disease and at least asthma.

I am happy to report that she hasn't had anything go to her chest since she was about 5.

I hope your ds is getting better now and that he gets through the winter without too much trouble.
