Verrucas... soooo fed up of them

I have had 3 verrucas on my foot and a wart on the top of the same foot for over 10 years. Despite cutting, filing, using every verruca/wart based product on the market, trying banana skins, duct tape freezing, NOTHING has worked! I am completely at the end of my tether and if I wasn't a wimp I would physically gauge them out. I actually think I've infected the wart as I've been going really hard this week at them in sheer frustration.

What on earth can I do? The doctor says they don't treat them anymore... what are my options? They're not very big really; probably almost a 5p piece. Please help Confused

Chiropodist sorted my son's out!

You need to speak to a different GP

Chiropodist sorted my son's out!
How did they treat them? Sorry if this is personal but, was it expensive? They're beginning to hurt so much now as they're on the ball of my foot and they've just been there for ages and ages. X

You definitely need to speak to someone else! Chiropodist sorted out my son's in 2 weeks, she cut a lot of it off because it was big, in an awkward spot and oddly shaped, then 2 weeks of salicylic acid and it was gone.

I can’t believe I’m typing this, as I’m the least “woo” person ever, but try thuja herbal remedy. I was at my wits end with DS’s verrucas, which were affecting his gait and causing issues. I used all the OTC remedies with zero success. In desperation, I bought thuja from a health food shop. They do tablets but I couldn’t work out the dosage for a child, so I got a tincture which you paint on twice a day. After 3 weeks it started to dry up, then after 5 weeks the whole thing just fell out, leaving a perfect clean hole behind which healed up in days.

I have no idea how it works, but it was a miracle!

You need to treat it or pick at it. Veruccas aren’t detected by the body as they are superficial. Once you have caused the trauma with bazucca ( or tweezers) and it bleeds a little your body is alerted to its presence and your immune system will kick in and start attacking it.

ImFree2doasiwant · 07/06/2021 20:48

My son had one that was a bugger. The best thing I found was using the extra strong bazooka stuff, but not filing. Use it every night, then every few nights use tweezers to pick the dead bits off. By not filing, a thick layer of dead stuff builds up. Eventually the entire thing peeled off. Very satisfying!

Have a look at verruca needling. It’s 67% effective. Also, there’s a new treatment called Verrutop that is supposed to be good. Both need to be done at a podiatrist and will could a couple of hundred quid.

LongIslandIcedT · 07/06/2021 20:51

Chiropodist sorted mine too. Cut most of it out and treated with a silver pen. Not too expensive, about £25.

I had a couple on both feet for about 15 yeas. Finally had enough last summer, I totally enraged and went for it with a triple-pronged attack of (a) the Wartner verrucca pen (trichloroacetic acid) 2-3x a day, with no break in the routine (b) keeping duct tape over the top at all times day and night, and after a while (c) physically digging/cutting them out with a fine array of tweezers and scalpels which I sterlilised after each use. I think I was also dabbing on salicylic acid here and there too.

It took a month or two and there was an awful lot of blood and pain, in fact I could barely walk for a number of weeks, but it was lockdown, so whatever, they are now gone. Obviously, I cannot recommend this course of action because obviously your mileage may vary and it's totally against the manufacturer's instructions and could probably be dangerous, but my God it felt good to nuke those absolute bastards.

I've just ordered a tube from Amazon. Had some good reviews for verrucas, I will literally try anything right now. Thank you! X

I had a very large one on the bottom of my foot for about 7/8 years. I cut it out with a scalpel. Not all in one go. I shaved bits off over about a month and then finally dug it out. It was painful but it worked and I've been Veruca free for 10 years now! I had silver nitrate put on some little ones at the chiropodist which burnt them off as well.
