Picked up dd today from nursery and I noticed she was grabbing her crotch. She seemed happy enough. Carer told me that she has been like that on an off throughout the day. Wanting to wee a lot but not actually doing much.

Anyway I get her home and she seems fine - no temp no grabbing of crotch.

She wears nappies at home but uses toilet at nursery (whole other thread there). I wonder if she is acting funny toward the toilet at nursery. She took dislike almost like a phobia to the potty at home and at one point held her wee for 24hrs which is why I abandoned the toilet training.

Will take to GP tomorrow but interested in your views.

I think so but no sign of any reddness. Since coming home she has grabed her crotch once. Her nappy wasn't very wet. I've been encouraging her to drink lots.

DP will have to take her to GP tomorrow and have her checked. I suppose it is possible to have a mild infection that comes and goes?

DP wondered if worms might be the cause. Would your wee sting if you had worms? If it did she would then hold her wee.

no i don't think your wee would sting.
are you going to take urine sample t GP's to save time, in case it is UTI?

I have no idea how we are going to get a sample. She is phobic about the potty and not wearing nappy (whole other thread needed). I was hoping GP would give antibiotics that are know to work on UTIs. Am i kidding myself????

GP won't give antibiotics without a urine sample. Symptoms could be caused by thrush or worms. I would wait another day and see what she is like.

Its very unlikely your GP will prescribe AB's without having determined a UTI is present. They will need a sample for this (although not too much if its going to be difficult to get this)
Its quite easy to infect yourself, especially little girls who wipe from back to front, there may or may not be redness and soreness around the genitals, and there may be some pain in the lower back where her kidneys are, but she would probably be feeling very unwell, especially if ths has been going on for a few days.

Make sure she drinks loads, cranberry juic is great, a natural antibacterial, and see your GP as you intend.

Worms could be a possibility, especially if its i the evening, its easy to check if you look when she's asleep, they are unmistakeable ! HTH

well gp says she is fine but gave us a bottle to get a sample anyway. I really think it's this phobic thing she has about toilets and potties. Up till now she has been happy at nursery with their little toilets but as time has gone by she refused to use it unless all the other kids have been using it. I think she was probably holding it in and as she uses nappies at home she relaxed with us.
