Can anyone recommend any way of getting rid of a cough quickly? I've had a very chesty cold and am plaugued with a cough that just won't go away. It has turned into a real tickly cough in the throat but I've still got congestion on the chest. I'm coughing every few minutes, real hacking and at night I'm not getting any sleep because I can barely even close my eyes withought the tickle starting in the throat. I've been guzzling cough medicine but it's just not touching it. Any recomendations.

my dd2 gets same thing every winter, lasts at least 6 weeks then gp gives me anti biotics (just to try even tho no sign of infection), it clears it up every time! Not sure if its coincidence and cough was gonna clear anyway or if she has some kind of infection and anti bios actually work?

bin the cough medicine and take a spoonfull of honey instead. I did this with my ds and his cough is much better at night now.

There's no real cure for a cough unless it's an infection, but if you're coughing a lot at night then you won't be sleeping well, so preventing coughing at night will help you sleep better and help fight off the cough.

Thanks both, yes it's distrupting mine and the whole neighbourhoods sleep.

I'll give the honey a go, I've been using a honey and lemon linctus so makes sense.

Thanks
