Has anyone lost the feeling in the outer corner of big toe??

The outer corner of my big toe has been numb for a few days now. If I nip it really hard I can’t feel a thing. It affects about a quarter of my toe. I haven’t done anything different lately, worn heels, new shoes, walked far etc.

I suffer from health anxiety and have lost perspective on what is trivial and what should be checked out. I’d feel a bit silly going to the docs about a partially numb toe. Anyone had similar?

I've had this when I've worn shoes that were a bit tight. It normally resolves in a week or so.

YES. It went on for months and my whole toe was numb. Sensation gradually came back but now I have a big bunion. I don’t know if it is related. Wish I had gone to the doctor but like you I felt a bit stupid so didn’t. Go!

I had this for ages, possibly as long as a year. I now also have a bunion so like pp wonder if it's connected. It did go away itself though.

I had this also (no bunion) and it scared the life out of me. Had a blood test in case it was diabetes related (came back normal). Dr said perhaps dehyration or lack of B vitamins. So I flexed my toe a lot and drank a lot of water with a multivit which seemed to help.

Yes when I was pregnant and my back was playing up. It was basically my nerves being compromised in my back due to the weight of my bump and it made some of my toes numb.

I was going to write that I have had this for at least two years but I have just felt my toes and the feeling has come back. I hadn't noticed! Try not to worry Op, most things health-wise are/end up ok.

Yes!! I have this right now and have done for a few months. I occasionally poke my toe because it's so very strange, no feeling up the outside edge of my big toe. I did think about speaking to the Gp but it just seems like such a minor issue. Maybe water and vitamins like PP suggests and see if it improves (that's what I'm going to try!).

Thanks everyone! I did a bit of research and discovered that it also be caused by the way you walk if you have a bunion. I do actually have a small bunion so I’m not too worried and I’m putting it down to that.

It’s interesting to hear that it’s relatively common. As I’m heading to middle aged I need to get a grip on my health anxiety, there’s going to be many more minor niggles I’m sure!

Sorry to restart this thread years later Penny but did the feeling come back? I’m experiencing the exact same.
