Getting 4 y/o DD to excercise

My 4 y/o DD lives a rather sedentary life. Her favourite pursuits are playing at home with dollies, painting, reading etc. We do walk quite a lot - on average about 30 mins per day going to & fro from school plus to the shops.

Has anyone got any good ideas to get her moving. She does do a ballet class once a week but I'd like to find another activity for her. What do your 4 y/o girls do that's active.

A walk once a day and ballet class every week sounds ok.

Has she got a bike?

dooley1 · 17/11/2007 14:17

swimming?

belgo · 17/11/2007 14:18

my dd1 loves cycling her bike with stabilizers.

Another vote here for swimming - has she had lessons? Good activity and could save your life.

Thanks for suggestions. I am going to try swimming but she's always been very nervous of water and won't go any deeper than water up to her knees atm.

She is going to inherit a bike from a cousin for Xmas. Do you think I'm expecting too mucg Belgo? Maybe I'm comparing to DS who only ever runs everywhere!

Does anyone do anything like gym/ modern dance with 4 y/os?

if she's nervous of water keep it as a regular fun activity at the moment, think about lessons when she's more comfortable in the water.

Exercise and activity should always be fun. If she's interested in going to something like gym then try it.
