Has anyone had problems with their Mooncup? - cautionary tale!

Used my mooncup for the first time yesterday and had to get the nurse at the local surgery to remove it!

You'd have thought I would have learnt....

But no,

Today it was the nice young student doctor in A&E who had the honours.....

Anyone else had problems and did you solve them?

Oh poor you

I seem to remember someone came on here once and had to be talked through the removal procedure online!

I do remember thinking it was pretty tricky for the first few times...

PMSL! Sorry. I have one but haven't actually used it yet!

Am a bit nervous now.

What was the problem?

MinnSpyHandCream · 16/11/2007 18:19

First insertion went ok, just couldn't get stubby fingers far enough to grab the cup to release the suction!

Then trimmed stem baaad idea!!) and it seems as though my amazing muscles move the thing up to cover my cervix and thus out of reach.

Could just feel the end with the tip of my finger.

Aunty Flo's been scared right away

truly. PMSL.
but i guess it didnt' leak. oh no, if auntie flo is still away you haven't had a chance to find out.
mine always leaks. i really just can't get it in right so always have to wear extra protection. TMI i know.
i still use it though. i really like it.
wierd.

FrannyandZooey · 16/11/2007 18:44

Oh dear, you poor soul

if it happens again I would advise something like getting into the bath and relaxing, then trying to bear down so that it moves further down your vagina and hopefully is within reach. You obviously know not to insert it too high, but it's moving about. Dp you feel it is properly sealed when you insert it? Is it the right size for you? These things could perhaps help it stay put.

lol and bless. used mine for first time last month and after the first 20 minutes of trying to remove i too though a trip to docs was going to happen!

Removal: If you can reach the bottom of the moon cup pinch it that sort of releases the suction. I then bear down ( as in childbirth) and then i get hold of more of the mooncup and pull.

It can take a while but i love mine. Just takes some practice!

Good luck xx

I had real problems getting it out the first time I used it. I ended lying on the bathroom floor legs apart getting more and more frazzled and sweaty as I just couldn't get it, finally I did manage after pushing as hard as I could. After that I relaised that bearing down on the toilet was the best way to get it out.

nannyL · 16/11/2007 18:58

oh dear

have never had that problem

MinnSpyHandCream · 16/11/2007 19:19

Managed to get a good fit, so that was encouraging.

might try and unblock holes with a pin (in the mooncup!) before next attempt.

Yes, I will give it another go, A&E is just across the road, walking distance, and the male doctor DID say, "Well, you know where we are if you need us"

Do you think I should add him to my christmas card list?

hilaaaaarious!!!!!!!!!!

It does get much easier

morningpaper · 16/11/2007 19:27

blimey I must have a short in-road

If I bear down I can push it right to the exit

Am I built like a wheely-bin?

Heated · 16/11/2007 19:29

Was he cute?

Used my mooncup for the first time last month and no exactly what you mean about it disappearing! Didn't think I'd be doing any more bearing down again!

PrunersOfEight · 16/11/2007 19:31

Well, I left the stem half-length.
Then everyone on here said they'd cut it off, and I wondered if it was too long, so I succumbed to some weird form of peer pressure, and trimmed it a bit more.
Now the only way I can get it out is to squat on the floor and guddle about until I can get hold of the bottom of it.
THe lesson is: don't let yourself be influenced by hairy-handed truckers when it comes to stem length...

Heated · 16/11/2007 19:32

Agree with Pruners!

SlightlyMadScreachingSirens · 16/11/2007 19:41

LOL..

Did you know that there is a company in the US who will send you a menstrual cup to collect your menstrual flow to have you stem cells banked...

When I first read artical I wondered how it would be 'hygenically collected' as described initially

DettaJnr · 16/11/2007 21:03

Bearing down is the trick. I find it easiest on the toilet. I also need to use something else on heavy days as there is always some leakage.

sugar34plum · 19/11/2007 11:40

and they send them over to uk and we send our "deposits" back to them in us????
