Lots of grumbling about access to GPs, waiting lists etc, so I just wanted to post a heartfelt big thank you to the NHS from our family today.
DH got a call from his sister about 8am this morning to say that their elderly (97 year old) father (my FIL) who lives alone had had a heart attack this morning, called her and an ambulance and was on the way to hospital.
He's very much still in sound mind, but has several heart-related problems and has had heart surgery in the past. He's been told in the past that his age means that surgery isn't typically recommended for him, and he has signed his own DNR order
.
DH's sister sad that FIL "didn't look good" when she saw him and was clearly preparing us for the worst.
Anyway, DH just had a text at 1.30 to say FIL has had surgery to replace his heart stent and is now sitting up in bed back on the ward having lunch!
We are so relieved!
