Does this prove my coil wasn’t working for me?

So, after 7 months of spotting, bleeding and back pain on the mirena coil, I’ve had it removed. It was taken out Saturday morning. By Monday afternoon I had heavy bright red bleeding. Yesterday I was losing blood clots the size of golf balls. Today I am still losing clots but not as big. My periods have always been heavy prior to the coil but this is definitely one of my heaviest bleeds.

Do you think the fact that only 2 days after the coil removal I’m losing massive clots means the coil wasn’t thinning my lining at all? The coil definitely stopped me having heavy periods like this but I’m wondering now whether a thick lining has been sitting there, gradually leaking out, for months...

I’m not too worried about the bleeding as it is a period, not trauma from the removal and it has definitely eased since yesterday. But it just makes me wonder how could my body have made enough lining to shed this much in a few days? It can’t have, can it? Maybe I’m just one of the few who doesn’t get the full benefit of the coil stopping periods.

I’m glad it’s out though, my back is so much better already and I haven’t got a crazy appetite.

Anyone else bleed like crazy after coil removal?
