its all red, so are his balls and yesterday his willy was bleeding . poor little man i really dont know whats causing it. he has had a rash of sorts aroiund that general area for a little while which i think is due to his nighttime pullups (they are always full in the morning) i have been wiping him now in the mornings and putting on cream which appears to have fixied the rash but now his willy is giving him problems.
any ideas what it is? there is no way i am going to get him to the doctors and less still get his willy out (he is 4.10 btw and has AS and seems to have a bit of an issue with our doctor- last time we went he hit her so not keen to repeat the experience if it can be avoided)

I think you do need to see a doctor and soon if it is bleeding. But ring them and explain and say can you see a different doctor.

moopymoo · 15/11/2007 10:20

could be balinitis which my ds gets sometimes- an infection under the foreskin. might need a dose of antibiotics. or thrush. i understand that seeing the gp is a stressful thing for you, but it does sound like a trip might be in order. or could you ring her and have a phone consultation? mine will gladly do this. avoid all bath stuff - maybe a bit of salt or porridge oats in a muslin in water. non bio washing powder all usual stuff. poor little man!

Nemo2007 · 15/11/2007 10:21

either go to dr or walk in centre or childrens a+e. Sounds like he might have ballinitis but ds never had a rash with that. Ballinitis is a infection in the foreskin so can make it swell, weep or bleed a little and will make them resistant to peeing.

thank you. oh god, dreading the doctors now. will try calling and then report back

actually i do have a funny story about him at the doctors. yesterday he had an appointment with his consultant for his ASD and after we got in the car he started going on about how he hated her and he hated x (the hospital where she was) and when we got there refused to get out of the car, and climbed over the seat into the boot. so i locked him in and went to tell the receptionisy he was there but wouldnt come in. so she went off and got a packet of hula hoops which she brought out to the car and waved it at him. so she sort of led him from the car wiggling these crisps in front of him like a carrot for a donkey. then once he was in she gave him the crisps and bolted the door lol it was probably one of those 'had to be ther' things but it was funny!

Bless him
I agree you need to see the doctor. Have you tried a good barrier cream like sudacrem or bepanthen at night if you think it might be to do with his pullups. If you put enough on the amonia can't penetrate.

My DS has had a lot of problems with balanitis and it started in the same way - with general nappy rash. He should see a doc as it can be painful and if he's not weeing becasue it hurts or it's swelling up and actually stoppping him being able to wee, it's bad. They're not always very good at treating it. It can be caused by a fungal infection, or someting like eczema or by a bacterial infection so antifungal cream, eczema cream and antibiotics are all options. Every doctor we've seen has suggested cicumcision as a first resort, but medically it should be a last resort. Is your DS still in nappies in daytime?

belcantavinissima · 15/11/2007 14:53

sorry so late back to this ,been out for most of the day. no he is out of nappies in daytime. he was crying yesterday having a wee but i think thats because he saw the blood. i mentioned to him i might have to take him to see the doctor today and he started telling me it was better now as it wasnt bleeding anymore. but clearly it isnt actually better.

GO TO THE DOCTOR

crimplene · 15/11/2007 15:39

Oh, we've managed to make things a lot better with leaving DS's nappy off a lot, but no good to you. Yes he does need to see a doctor.

whatajoke · 15/11/2007 15:44

yes, please take him.

My DS1 used to mess with his willy loads and said it was sore.

I told GP who said all little boys mess and left it at that. I took him back a few more times and was just given aqueous cream.

When he was 7 he said it was hurting to wee. I went with him and couldn't believe it. The skin had completely fused and all he had was a tiny tiny hole to wee out of.

Straight to GP....who said that he had a skin condition that could have been treated. Basically when he kept saying it was sore when he was little it was BXO (skin condition). If it had been treated with steroids then it could have got better. Instead the damaged foreskin had completely fused and he had to have a circumcision.

PLEASE TAKE HIM!!!
