How long to wait before receiving letter confirming diagnosis?

I had an appointment with a consultant nearly three weeks ago, but haven't yet received the follow up letter confirming the diagnosis.

When I called their secretary I was told she can see the letter has been written, but as the letters are outsourced she couldn't tell me how long before I receive it.

How long is it reasonable to expect to wait before I phone again, considering the secretary explained its out of her hands?

I've has a lot of hospital appointments recently. The most efficient consultants get their letters out in under 2 weeks. Some take 3 months. Most take about 6 weeks.
