My ds nursery has just rung to let me know hes had 4 mucky nappies today and his bottom and top of legs are red and have started to blister. They just wanted to let me know coz on the positive side they say hes absolutely fine in himself, has eaten a good lunch, had a good nap and doesn't seem bothered by it at all. They said I don't need to pick him up early coz hes otherwise absolutely fine. What to do? Can't get a docs aptmt coz you have to ring up in the morning. And would the doc just suggest nappy rash cream anyway? Poor ds has obviously eaten something thats disagreed with him. Has anyone any experience of this kind of reaction? Got another 45 mins in work to sit worrying about it.

Just a thought but if there are little pimples you need to be sure that it isn't thrush, when we had this we alos had upset tummy, something to do with good bacteria!Hope he is feeling better today.

Ewwww yeuch Philly - THRUSH?!
OMG I thought that was something only grownups get and particularly women?
How on earth would he have got that?

Well DS is still very red this morning tho slightly better than last night and he didn't mind when I put the metanium on. Have taken the tube to nursery so hopefully he'll be a lot better by the time I pick him up tonight.

Metanium is the best stuff, well done for using it. I bet by end of play today it will be much much better. However babies can get thrush. I t is nothing they 'catch' I am not sure how they get it. However if Metainium doesn't clear things up in a couple of days do go to the GP. Thrush if I remember right, usually has white spots, and you get canestan cream for it. It is better to get it on prescription as it is free! But you can buy it OTC.

At the risk of sounding like a really hippy mummy Camomile tea is very soothing. It's recommended by the nappy lady. I was dubious to start with but it seemed to clear up very quickly.
If your ds is finding the metanium uncomfortable he mind find this ssoothing. It's worth a go just to use it as a nappy wash!
