MRI on Friday and I can't get my piercings out

I've got an MRI on my hip on Friday afternoon and I've just gone to take my 3 piercings out of my ears which all have the screw ball on (1 barbel and 2 rings) and I can't undo any of the balls

Is it definitely essential I take them out and if so how????

If they need to be cut out then fine but I haven't got anything strong enough to cut through

I would try and get in with a piercer between now and then but they are all fully booked the ones I trust anyway

@EverythingsComingUpRoses you'd be better calling the MRI department. Don't quote me on this but sometimes they say it's uneccessary to take some piercings out if they're just scanning the lower part, but I've also had scans where I've had to take everything out even when just scanning lower part. They'll tell you whether you'll need to or not.

If it’s a hip MRI, I imagine you’d have to go quite far into the machine so I suspect you’d need to take them out. (Not a doctor but have had a few MRI’s)
Have you tried begging any of your trusted piercers? Maybe one of them would be kind enough to help after their last appt?

I have a faith piercing which I couldn't remove for the MRI on my back / hip.
It wasn't an issue - during one scan they left it and during another they taped it. I also had headphones on for the duration so not sure if that would've made a difference?

Managed to get a piercer to remove them this morning -they actually opened up early for me

I'd rung the MRI department and the message was clear -piercings out!

I had a MRI on my brain this week and couldnt get the daith or my helix out, if the jewellery is the one the salon put in or if you purchased it from the salon they are normally titanium which is surgical grade and ok to go in an MRI. I rang radiology before and explained that I couldnt get them out and they said it was fine. Had the MRI with no problems.

Another time, putting latex gloves on can help give you grip
