About a year ago I had the worst carbuncle ever, I didn't pick it or squeeze it and followed all the medical advice to treat it. The nurse changed the packing (it was so deep it had to be packed to aid healing from the inside) and cleaned it twice a week for me (I couldn't reach it as was in a tricky position).
I never touched it tampered with it but, still, a year later the scar is still there. People tell me it's healing well but the scar is intended (concave) and is still very purplish in colour. I'm very pale-skinned so it shows up a lot.
How long to carbuncle scars generally take before they start to fade? I never expected it to disappear quickly, but don't notice much difference a year after. Is this normal?
