Something just went pop in my hand. Photo

I was putting DS2 to bed when I felt a stabbing/burning pain in the back of my hand. It very quickly became swollen and blue in one specific spot.
I had been out walking and my hands were a little bit chilly when I got home, but not massively so.

Common sense tells me it's probably nothing serious, but Dr Google tells me I am going to die 🤣🤣

Any ideas?

Could be a ganglion cyst?

SnargaluffPod · 29/04/2021 23:08

Ganglion cyst. I’ve just had one of a similar size. Took about three months to disappear.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/04/2021 23:12

I don’t know what this is but I get it.

It starts feeling increasingly sore and then an absolutely intense but fleeting pain and a bruise is left. It feels like a ‘burst’.

I get it mostly in my fingers/knuckles but got one once in the sole of my foot.

I have dislocated both shoulders in my younger days. I got morphine.

I would rather have had the shoulders than the sole thing. All day long.

Sorry - it isn’t helpful. I don’t know what it is. But you are not alone.

Burst blood vessel. Query Achenbach syndrome?

mawbroon · 29/04/2021 23:14

It appeared in the space of a minute or so of the stabbing pain though. Would a cyst just appear suddenly like that?

I have a ganglion cyst on my foot. It looks just like that that’s on your hand. I wish mine would pop and fuck off!

Northernsoullover · 29/04/2021 23:15

Achenbach is my amateur GP diagnosis too. I used to get it.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/04/2021 23:17

It has a ‘name’

Cheers for that! Grin

Sunshinesandice · 29/04/2021 23:19

My mum has just had exactly the same thing, appeared from no where - doctors confirmed ganglion cyst, nothing dangerous and disappeared within a month or so

Warmduscher · 29/04/2021 23:22

I’ve had many of those over the years. Mine disappear almost as quickly as they appear. Hope yours does too, OP.

Magissa · 29/04/2021 23:28

Haha my Grandma used to say you should hit ganglion cysts with a bible. I had one years ago came suddenly, lasted a couple of weeks I think.

mawbroon · 29/04/2021 23:31

I've just had a read about Achenbach syndrome and it does sound very like it. I'm not ruling out a ganglion cyst either though!

There's no pain now, it literally only lasted a few seconds but I'll find out tomorrow if it's painful trying to use it for everyday tasks.

I'm going to be 50 later this year and it's starting to feel like I am falling apart 🤣

It looks like a swollen sinus. I had one on a finger years ago. It will probably go of its own accord but if it doesn't, see your GP.

My thumb just got really blood sore out of nowhere and popped out with this weird lumpy bruise! Bloody hurts!

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 30/04/2021 12:32

Looks like a small aneurysm, I had one of these on the back of my hand, swelled up in a blue lump & was a quite sore, then slowly flattened and left a red bruised looking sore spot for a few days.

Ive also had a ganglion but it wasnt blue like that and appeared much more slowly, its a cyst with clear fluid that you can pop but will refill again.
