Had IUD fitted a week ago, still bleeding

I had an IUD fitted last Wednesday. I am occasionally still getting cramps and a bit of bleeding but no worrying discharge. I called my GP today and was told that this is normal and it will settle but I just wanted to cavass opinions on this. I don't want to leave it if it could cause some damage and I've never had a coil before. TIA

It is normal. I had very slight bleeding with the mirena for two months. I should get better.
