If you pay privately for a check, can you be referred to NHS if needed.

Following on from my thread down below, I googled private mole check/screening. I must have over 100 moles and I'm thinking I'd like a proper check..however I'm not sure if I can afford more than the check. IF they found a mole that needs further investigation or removal, can I be referred to the NHS from a private app?

You can go and see your GP armed with your private results and they will refer you.

Yes you can, and there are guidelines that state that your NHS care should not be delayed or duplicated because you started your care in the private sector.

So if your dermatologist says you need a biopsy or a mole removing and you elect to return to the NHS, you should be added to an NHS waiting list as though the consultant had seen you in an NHS outpatient clinic, you shouldn't need to be re-referred and re-assessed again.

Yes you can, the consultant can put you on their NHS list or your GP can make the referral in the normal way.
