Stabbing/throbbing pain behind knee/top of calf

Does anyone else experience this?

It’s like a mild stabbing/throbbing pain that happens intermittently at the top of my calf/behind my knee

It’s not exercise related as to my shame I basically don’t do any that doesn’t consist of running around after toddlers

I’m trying to get hold of the doctor in case it’s more serious than just one of those things but at the moment we’ve been told that unless it’s an ‘emergency’ they basically won’t speak to us on the phone let alone see us in person - safe to say I’m in the process of moving practices

No experience of this but - how often are we talking that you get this pain? Just on one calf? Also, is there any bruising and is it hot or sensitive to touch?
No injury that you can think of, even if mild, like pulling a ligament or anything? X

Well today it’s been on and off all day and then in the last week or so it’s been maybe once or twice a day...definitely worse towards the end of the day though

It’s not hot or sensitive, no swelling etc as I had been looking at DVT

It’s just my right calf. No injury that I can recall unless if just pulled something when playing with the children

Hi willow,

Did the pain improve??
I literally have the exact same problem. Aching pain behind near and calf that gets worse at the end of the day. Did you get any help? X

Willow4987 · 18/05/2021 21:58

@courtney25 no I didn’t seek any help, it sort of went away after a couple of days so I just assumed that it’d pulled/twisted it or something with the children. It didn’t get any worse and I was on high alert for a DVT though and if it had any of those symptoms then I’d have sought help ASAP

Bakers cyst , possibly. See a doctor.

Do you sit on a hard chair at work and/or cross your legs?
