This really is the first time ever she has been ill so I have no experience of what to do.

She started vomiting on Sat evening then all through the night until about 9 last night. She hasn't been sick since but she now has diarriah (well just yellow water really). What is really worrying me is that she hasn't eaten anything since Sat lunchtime and is pretty much refusing any drinks too. She had a low temp yesterday 35.2 but it is now fine. What do I do? Keep trying to get her to drink? or is it time to take her to the walk in centre place?

She seems fine in herself, sulky and quite but not overtly ill or anything.

TIA

Main thing is to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated. Get some dioralyte from the chemist and get as much into her as you can. Otherwise she sounds like she's getting better on her own and will be fine

Yes, you must get her to drink something, little and often. Any sort of drink will do basically (but not milk, I think??) or even ice lollies.

Lemonade and ready salted crisps also work!

You have to take it a day at a time really. No need to worry yet unless the diarrhoea is really bad or she gets dehyrated.

Hope she gets better soon

Thanks for the replies

She started being sick again last night but now her diarrhoea is horrendous. TMI but she is half filling a potty every half an hour or so and it is practically just water.

I was thinking about taking her to the docs but can't really see what they would do?

This bug is really bad

poor wee thing - keep trying to get fluids into her. flat lemonade is supposed to be good for diahorea or the dioralyte helps replensish what she's losing. has hse eaten anything? clear soup if she's hungry rather than anything too stodgey.

you could always phone DR's for some advice?

Sorry to hear your LO is ill. Don't worry, they all get it eventually and it will be over soon.

Don't give her any milk or dairy foods whatsoever. Don't worry about solid food ATM, the important thing is to keep her hydrated. She must drink as much as she can. You can give her ice-lollies (obviously home-made juice lollies are best, but anything is probably better than nothing) or ice-cubes to suck.

Flat coke is very good, rehydrates, provides minerals, and settles the tummy. The only problem with it is the caffeine, so only give it to her in the morning perhaps. Stir with a spoon to flatten it.

If she can't keep anything down, then give her a teaspoonful every couple of minutes. Or let her suck and chew on a face-cloth dipped in water.

Rice Crispies are also good, and she can have fun picking them up one at a time and eating them one by one.

Once she wants to eat, let her, no matter whether she still has diarrhoea (as long as she's not vomiting). Remember 'BRAT': Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast - the best things to eat with a tummy bug.

Thanks Pretty Candles - I will make note of BRAT sounds like good advice. I used to use a medicine syringe to dip feed water into babies if they refused to drink Both mine had this bug lastweek. We didnt have one clean towel or sheet left in house. DH had it and is diabetic so a bit more tricky so had 3 of them laid up.
