Weird little lump on my face

The other day while trying to give myself a bit of self care and applying moisturiser to my face I noticed this little lump. It’s between the nose and cheek (left side) around the eye socket area. It is invisible if you look at my face - nothing raised, red or swollen. I doubt you’d even. Price it if you were quickly applying moisturiser or foundation. But now I know it’s there I can’t stop touching it and wondering what it is.
It does not hurt, it cannot be seen, it is firm but not rock hard, it’s smaller than a pea I think, and it does move - ie if I try and confine it between two fingers it kind of jumps out of the way (sorry don’t know how best to explain). Any idea? Could it be a cyst? It doesn’t feel like it’s in the skin as I can push the skin of my cheek and feel this under a different part of the skin. It kind of feels like it’s attached to the layer under the skin - not the bone. I’ve just done an e consult but I cannot figure out what this is.

I think anything like this is worth a discussion with the GP. I had a weird patch on my face, turned out to be a Basal Cell Carcinoma (skin cancer that doesn’t spread). Do you have Ask My Gp at your practice? You could send a photo and see if it needs attention that way. Or you can ask a pharmacist.

I’ve done an e consult. I can’t really send photos because there is nothing to see. But will speak to my lovely gp and see if she’d mind me popping down for her to take a look and reassure me. Guess it could be a cyst? I had a ganglion cyst on my hand last year and it actually feels very similar to that - only I don’t think you can get ganglion cysts on your face.

Gang lions tend to be in frequently used joints I think? Still best to get it checked, glad you’ve asked your GP

What are those little spots filled with hard white stuff?

underneaththeash · 15/04/2021 20:11

Is your eye on that side watery? Just wondering if it’s in your naso-lacrimal duct?

takethegirloutofwales · 15/04/2021 20:24

Nope not watery. Trying to be more precise it’s just below the eye socket. Imagine if you were wearing sunglasses, they’d be leaning on the spot.

I had a little lump that sounds to be in the same place, I was a bit concerned about it but it vanished after about a week of prodding it. I thought it was a spot but it never came to a head. Hasn't come back.

Sorry don't know if this helps!

So update...telephone consult with go. Not my go of choice she tends to be very dismissive. Kept trying to explain what. It was and where on my face and she simply said ‘oh that’s a conjunctival cyst, leave it be it’s fine’. Off I go to google what that is - and it’s like a clear blister on the eyeball. I mean she was obviously not listening or not that bothered. Shall I leave it and see what it does over the next few weeks? And ask my fave gp next time?
