threadworms and cleanliness

dd1 has threadworms, discovered them thursday eve. I immediatly went out and bought ovex to treat us all.

I have changed all the sheets on the beds and am being extra vigilant with regards to hand washing. Is it really necessary for me to go around the entire house scrubing everything? The reason I ask is that I am currently not well and it was all I could do to take the bedsheets off without collapsing in a heap.

Am I risking re-infection by not doing more?

thanx

I wouldn't bother doing a 'spring clean' - just make sure you all have another dose in a couple of weeks.
I would also wipe down the bed frames and door handles though (and of course clean toilets & taps if you can manage).

We've had these - I washed night clothes, bed-linen and towels and cleaned bathrooms. Generally careful with hand-washing. Other than this, no special measures and they have not come back.

NHS Direct talks about using strict hygiene methods or medication to get rid of threadworms.

EEEww - my ds2 had these, i don't like medication in LO's so I made sure that hygiene was strict, also fed them lots of garlic, it's a good anti-parasitic. Lots of washing as well. Not seen them for a while
