Postnatal hair loss

I had my baby 4 months ago and my once thick hair seems to be dropping out in clumps. I've heard this is common after giving birth, but is there anything I can do for it?

You are only losing the hair which would have fallen out naturally but didn't because you were pregnant.

Unless you're being left with bald patches, don't worry.

Really? It just seems like so much. I haven't got any bald patches reckon I might go bald at this rate.

Don't worry. It'll grow back and you'll get a lovely mini fringe that will take months to come in like mine. I have a veritable halo of short bits at the moment - almost a year on.

Great

It grows back surprisingly quickly, as soon as it falls out it starts to grow back.

Bookthief - Ditto the mini fringe one year on

I'm thinking of going for DC2 cos I like the layered look

I went to my doctors a couple of weeks ago about this, I had my DD 6 months ago and she said as long as I didn't have bald patches not to worry about it and not come back in a few months if it was still coming out alot. I hate now washing my hair because there is always tons of hair in the plug hole that I have to pull out. Then when I come my hair through there is loads and it literally makes me feel sick. Problem is I don't remember my hair being any thicker when I was pregnant.

God, I hear you peacemaker. How bad is blow-drying it? I leave a rug of hair at my feet.

Mine is doing this, and its growing back......grey!

You'll just have to grin and bear it. My hair was all glossy and thick until I had DD then it was like beaver hair (the animal you naughty people) with a thick undercoat and wispy bits on top. I got pregnant again quite quickly and it was again glossy but has only now just got back into a reasonable state (DS is nearly 3)
