Worried that infection might get more serious like sepsis

Last week, I developed some pain in my face. In my ear and in a tooth to be more precise. I couldn't figure it out. I know the whole area is connected. Chance of covid is slim because 1st of all I'm vaccinated, and 2 I am following the guidelines and there's no one in my small circle positive or showing symptoms. I battled on for a few days until the pain in my ear got too much. I made it to the doctor. I was diagnosed with tonsillitis and a wax build up. I was taken aback with the tonsillitis because I had no typical symptoms of tonsillitis.

I don't know how long I was walking around with tonsillitis. I am afraid that the tonsillitis infection moved into my ear.

I am taking antibiotics since Friday. Its penicillin. I think there is a slight improvement but it's still not very great. Just this evening I was smacked with a massive/heavy headache. Now I am worried that the infection might turn into something more serious like sepsis. I don't have time to be sick.

I am monitoring other symptoms. My temperature is 37.4, so it's not a high temperature or fever. The heart rate seems to be good too. I'm resting now and it's 65 so it's normal for me.

The new headache is intense. The pain my ear still comes and goes.

The headache eased, thank goodness.

I don't feel 100% right though. My face is somewhat swollen on one side. The ear pain has eased considerably but it's still happening on and off. The cold and the wind is aggreviating the pain.

I don't feel 100% right though. My head is groggy. Temperature is a little bit hot and cold. It feels a bit temperamental for sure. I went for a walk and I'm heating up big time. There's no fever though.

I feel there's something not quite right. Surely the antibiotics would be kicking in now at this stage. I'm on day 5 with 2 more days to go.

My heartate over night was normal according to my fitness band. The average resting heartrate was 58. I took a blood pressure reading in the morning and it was a little bit high for my liking but it was normal enough too. It was 125 over 82. It's usually around about 115 over 80 give her a take a few more digits.

A colleague of mine said that hay-fever and sinus issues are happening in a big way so far and so early in the year too. Maybe it's that.

I’m having similar symptoms for the third year running at this time of year. I reckon mine is tree pollen allergy. My husband and dad have had sepsis, they were in agony, although both have high pain thresholds, shivering with extreme temperature changes, rigours, painful muscles. I don’t feel close to that bad. Finish the drugs course and then see how you feel, try not to over analysis your own stats. It doesn’t sound like sepsis to me but if you think it is that then it’s an emergency.

Tonsillitis is a bit of a bizarre diagnosis without a sore throat. Sounds more like a dental abscess if your face is a bit swollen. Or perhaps ear infection.
In any case, penicillin is a reasonably broad spectrum antibiotic and you’re extremely unlikely to develop sepsis if you’re taking it.

You have no symptoms of sepsis. If you had sepsis you would be far more unwell, you would be in fever and rigor.

The doctor had a look and the tonsils were inflamed. They never gave me any pain or trouble.

It does sound more like an abscess. Sometimes they can take more than one set of antibiotics and be very painful.

And no it doesn’t sound much like sepsis. My husband has had that twice over the past couple of years.

I had a dentist appointment - check up and cleaning with xrays days before symptoms appeared and I got the all clear at the dentist.
