Newly diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma and wondering if IABU

diagnosed back in Feb and still not in treatment (whole other thread) an wondering IABU /overreacting.

I have had both covid vaccinations but a recent study has thrown into doubt the effectiveness of blood cancer patients and I'm also awaiting blood tests to check my antigen response.

Long story short I have my 2 step children eow and there last visit was informed they were off school due to a covid case in there school bubble. Agreed they could visit as long as both were tested and negative. (My whole family are lateral flow testing twice a week to ensure my expose is minimum)

Anyway mum assured they had been tested and the contact went ahead. Fast forward to this visit and asked if they had tested. Was told no by the children so pulled the test kit out. Both children had no idea what I was doing and were pretty scared of the test, clearly they had never been tested before!

I'm absolutely furious that this person has lied and effectively put my life at risk and also asked 2 small children to lie too.

I've told dad that they are not to come unless he tests them at pick up and can provide me with a negative test.

Am I being unreasonable?

Its caused huge arguments this weekend.

My own 8 year dd is testing twice a week.

You are definitely not being unreasonable and I cannot believe their mum lied to you and put you at risk like that, that is absolutely unacceptable

Frazzled2207 · 28/03/2021 22:45

Sorry about this situation Yanbu at all

Whatafool123 · 28/03/2021 22:47

YANBU at all. In your situation (which I was many years ago but obv not with the added worry of Covid) I am not sure I would have been happy to have them even with the tests, never mind without.

Not testing the children and lying was unforgivable!

Whatafool123 · 28/03/2021 22:49

I am also shocked it has caused arguments. Surely your DH must realise the risk?

YANBU Flowers

YANBU. This is awful, sorry OP!

What has your husband said? Did you speak with their mother?

I can't believe you were lied to like that!

dontdisturbmenow · 30/03/2021 14:25

Of course not. Does mum know of your condition? It's outrageous she would lie about this.
