Is there anything that can help Grade 4 piles other than surgery? And some related questions...

DH has grade 4 piles. He has daily bleeding which can take up to 30 mins to stem. He is 41 and says he has had them for 20 years.

I am trying to encourage him to book an appointment with the GP but he says he doesn't want to have surgery 'while Covid is still here.' I am going to continue trying to work with him...

But in the meantime is there anything that can be done to help?

Also, our GP surgery is only doing video appointments at the moment. IF I can persuade him to book one, will they take his word that they are grade 4 and refer him on or will they fob him off?

Are haemorrhoidectomies going ahead right now? Does anyone know what the waiting list would be?

I would suggest we go private but we are trying to save for our first house...

Daily bleeding for 30 mins for 20 years
He should absolutely see a GP

Well, I think the extent of bleeding is a new thing, which is why I was so shocked when he told me, but yes he says he’s had the piles for 20 years.

Well, two years later and I have finally got DH to the GP! GP was shocked at the extent of them and has referred him to the consultant. Has anyone got recent experience of the different surgery options for grade 4 piles and the recovery time?
