Release of MRI to private consultant

Can anyone tell me what 'Data protection forms' are required for my NHS provider to release MRI results to a private neuro who is giving a second opinion, please?

My NHS provider claims it's a lengthy process to fill in these forms - this sounds a bit fishy to me, given the private neuro told me it's a simple process that only requires them to send them electronically.

My GP has previously told me there is no such thing as a 'second opinion' within the NHS, so I'm happy to pay for this privately.

I’m really not sure how you would go about getting the NHS to send to the private neurologist but my dad recently asked his GP for copies of several X-ray reports for his attendance allowance claim and they just printed them off and gave them to him.

I would be tempted to phone your surgery and ask the receptionist if you could have a copy of your mri report, then you could forward to the private consultant.

Thanks, I've gone through the records dept instead now because they have been most helpful before and I have more faith in them.
I'm going private because I believe my treatment has been poor due to a cover-up.
I only did it this way because the private consultant said it would be quick and easy. I imagine she hasn't dealt with this obstructive behaviour before - it's really outrageous.
I've been passed from pillar to post and I don't believe it's this difficult data protection process that it's being made out to be.
