Hi, is tonsillitis in children contageous?

I am a childminder and a little girl I look after has tonsillitis, I last minded her on friday (when she wasnt well) and it was friday evening that she went to the docs and was diagnosed!

My concern is I was minding other children on the same day and I also have a dd (16 mths) so could they have caught it??

Not really ,you could pick up the infection if you shared a lot of saliva with the infected person eg teenagers are prone to it this way! But generally no for otherwise healthy people there shouldn
t be a problem.

I took Ds3 to the docs the other day because his tonsils were swollen. Although his wasn't tonsilitus the Doc did ask if any of my other Dss's had had tonsilitus recently and said there was alot of children with it ATM so I assume from that it is.

I didn't think it was though TBH....

Thanks everyone, mixed views so decided best thing is to advise other parents to be aware incase they are ill, and also will be watching dd as she has been unwell today but hope its just coincidence!
