KittyletteMeHoldaSparkler · 04/11/2007 04:16

I think I have this - been going on for about 10 days now

Ive had cranberryjuice and also those sachets of cranberry flavoured powder from canesten but no change.

Its driving me nutty!

You need to go to the doctor and get antibiotics before the infection travels to your kidneys. The sachets and stuff just take away a bit of the sting - they don't cure the infection. Don't delay.

Oh dear! Bloody eck- right thanks. I'll go tomorrow

I would like to add, if the first lot of antibiotics don't work, go back and ask for another (different) type. This has happened to me in the past and some a/b's are better than others at treating it.

Good luck!

I have found that what has helped me in the past is drinking LOTS of water so that you actually do need to go to the loo when it feels like you do.

ChubbyScotsBurd · 04/11/2007 13:06

I agree, get antibiotics ASAP (maybe take a sample to the doc) but in the meantime you must drink as much as you can, because the flow of urine through your kidneys and bladder helps wash the bugs through and reduce likelihood of ascending infection. Keep going with the cranberry juice, but I have also found loads of tea or barley water helpful - anything wet really!

You have my sympathies, it sucks.

LiliAnjelika · 04/11/2007 13:09

Tons of water, I agree. Also, Rennie or bicarb of soda takes the sting out of your wee but it doesn't cure it of course. Sometimes it does go away by itself but I wouldn't chance it.

sophierosie · 04/11/2007 13:48

Drink lots of lemon barley water too.

funnypeculiar · 04/11/2007 13:51

Yup, if you haven't shifted it in 10 days a-b prob needed - but in the meantime, drink more water/lemon barley/cranberry than you can imagine (seriously, gallons & gallons) should help the wee-wincing
