Bleeding after going to the toilet. Advice please.

Just had a bit of a fright so hoping for some advice please. Live alone so no one to talk to.

I've felt well all day, around an hour or so ago I developed a slightly sore stomach and wind (sorry tmi) although I had also just done an online exercise class followed by a large amount of pancakes!

Have just been to the toilet, had wind (sorry) didn't poo. On wiping there was bright red blood on the paper. Initially I thought my period but it was coming from the back.

No blood in pan at all and nothing having gone back and wiped again. My bottom does now feel a little sore and possibly a little lumpy.

Does this sound like piles?

If the bleeding keeps up or stomach pains get worse or anything I will make a go appointment but I'm hoping as it was only there on wiping it isn't anything too serious and was very bright red.

Any advice or experience welcome as I am feeling quite worried. Thank you

Piles or a fissure. Bleeding from anywhere further away from your anus would tend to be dark in colour by the time you saw it.

It’s unusual that you hadn’t actually passed anything when you noticed blood but not a cause for alarm, in my humble opinion.

You can try something OTC if you get any pain or discomfort. It might just go away without any further fuss. If it doesn’t, get it checked out by the doctor.

Piles, but do get checked out.

Thank you all for replying.

I had no more bleeding or anything but did have a bit of a throbbing pain around the area. So I do think piles now too. I will pick up some cream today. If it gets worse/continues I'll definitely get checked out.

Thank you again I got a bit of a fright last night.

Ring the GP, I would imagine they will probably say it is piles and give you a cream then if that doesn’t clear it it might need further investigation. But only a GP can advise!

Sorry to be graphic but it’s the colour that matters. Bright red is from the opening ie fissure or piles but if you look into your poo as you should every so often and see plum coloured bits then go to the Drs asap.

Hey!

I’m 28 and back in 2019, I too had the exact same thing, followed by unbearable itching and constipation. I went to the doctors and they did an internal check. They could feel a lump. I completely freaked.

I was sent to the Bowl unit at the hospital. I had another check and a colonoscopy to confirm. It was haemorrhoids.

They decided to bring me back in and band them up. I was put to sleep and had 4 bands fitted around them and a Botox injection into a cut inside (Botox, I know)

I was incredibly uncomfortable my first
Night at home. And was told to expect them to fall out within a few weeks. It took around a month and finally one night I noticed the bands and some blood in the toilet (TMI sorry)

It’s now been two years and I’m feeling sooooo much better!!

Piles or fissure, but I've had a fissure and the blood normally happens after pooing. It might also be a burst blood vessel, but again that's normally caused by strain in if your constipated

IMO a few spots of bright red spots on the toiled roll is very rarely anything to worry about.
