Bad period pains for weeks but no period - worrying!

As the title says, I’ve had bad cramping now for over 2 weeks but no sign of a period at all. TMI sorry, but I’ve had a lot more discharge that normal. Other than that nothing else out of the ordinary.
Oh I’m also 4 months postpartum, I’ve had one period (I think) since baby was born.

Is it time to see a GP? Am I over reacting? I have health anxiety so do tend to jump the gun lol

is there any chance you could be pregnant again?

Momtot · 15/02/2021 08:14

@welldonesquirrel oh god I hope not. I’m on the pill, waiting for an appointment for an IUD, and we’ve only had sex like 4 times since baby was born so the chances are very very slim

Do you have a gap between pill packets for a bleed ?

Momtot · 15/02/2021 08:19

@DinosaurDiana no I’m on Cerazette, the continuous one. Never used this one before, does it mean I won’t bleed? Do you think the cramps are linked to the pill?

I’ve no idea, I was only ever on the one where you have a week off.
If you’re in pain I think a phone call to the GP is in order. It may be that it’s not suiting you.
Do you have any pregnancy symptoms, did you have diarrhoea or similar so that your pill might not have worked ?

Momtot · 15/02/2021 08:28

@DinosaurDiana same here up until now. I’ll give them a call.
No, but I did have a break for about 4 days when we moved house and I couldn’t find the pills 🤦🏻‍♀️ But didn’t have sex until it was safe again. Maybe I should take a test to rule it out

I would take a test then call the gp. They’d probably ask you to take one anyway.
If you had a gap, I think you should have used protection until you’d had the next full packet ?
What were the instructions when you started the pill ? Was it to use something else for the first while packet ?

DinosaurDiana · 15/02/2021 08:31

Whole packet

You're not meant to have a 'period' on Cerazette, as you take it without a break. You can have some bleeding too, that's also normal.

So don't worry about not having a 'period' (using commas as it's obviously not a period anyway, just a bleed).

If you did have a break in taking the pill, you needed to use barrier protection for about a week after re-starting.

Unlikely you're pg but you should take a test to be sure.
Then look up the details of the pill & understand how it works!
