poo problems in 7 year old

Not sure where to put this so will copy and paste into health as well.

My 7 year year old boy seems to have some sort of problem with his poo.
He was very late to be clean(about 4) and has always be one to havve accidents-when he was in reception he used to have poo accidents on the way home or on play dates after school.

Now he regularly has dirty underpants-just a small skid mark but really grotty. He will come and stand next to me and he will stink and i will make him go to the bathroom and change his pants and he'll have not wiped his bum or something.

I was woken this morning by him calling from the bathroom. he'd pooed in his pj's-not overnight, he'd come downstairs to watch tv and hadn't been able to get to the loo in time. tmi-but some it was quite loose so understandable but there was a lso a large lump of proper poo and there was no way that would have just come out! he must have left it until the last possible minute .

I don't know what to do. End of tether reached.

I don't want him to end up being ' the smelly boy' at school or 'that bloke in the office who stinks'.

What now? out of ideas.

Well I think he was so engrossed with what was on TV, he didn't want to miss it, so probably a one-off.

Maybe the school toilets don't always have toilet paper in them? Wouldn't harm to practice cleaning his bum properly at home a bit so he remembers how to do it, maybe more than just one quick swipe...

If his poo isn't exceptionally runny, that might just be it.
