Painful feet from walking barefoot

I have started getting terrible pains in my feet, I can hardly walk in the mornings. My Achilles' tendon is so painful I can hardly flatten my foot, but I also have widespread foot pain... any idea what it is? Within an hour it is gone.

I always walk barefoot/ in socks at home. Given I have been mostly always at home for a year, I have been barefoot all the time, could that be it?

Sounds like Plantar fasciitis. I used to only get pain under my feet but often it is in the heels and Achilles area. Good support and stretching exercises help a lot.

Doublechins · 31/01/2021 21:39

I agree sounds like plantar fasciitis.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 31/01/2021 21:41

Order some kt tape and google kt tape plantar faciitus. Tape it up. That should help. Wear supportive slippers or put arch support in slippers at home

RandomPatternedTiles · 31/01/2021 22:08

Yep agree with all the above. The giveaway is that it's worst when you get up but then eases

Thanks all.

The only time I ever got this pain was when I was pregnant. Maybe the covid curves are putting pressure on it too!

I will try slippers first. Any good brands you can recommend?

I was told to wear trainers in the house for a while to help mine

Expensive option but I have had it for ages culminating in agony last summer. Bought Birkenstock slippers (with moulded foot bed) and has made a massive difference. Not cheap but really brilliant.

Definitely do the stretching exercises, you'll find plenty on the internet. Can't recommend any slippers but Fitflop trainers and sandals really help.

HandlebarLadyTash · 31/01/2021 23:39

Hi, I have got this at the moment Vionic slippers are your friend i also got a pair of the trainers.
Ebay have some of the ranges in various outlet stores slightly cheaper

Have you taken up running, or started doing a lot of exercise? I developed terrible Achilles tendinitis some years ago and had to go about on tiptoes on getting up in the morning. Too much exercise too soon caused it.

@SpudsandGravy

I did take up running in June. I hurt my hip and had to stop which I was upset about because I loved it so much. I can't remember this happening at the time but maybe it did but the hip was so bad it was diluted.
