Contraception question

Lazarou · 30/10/2007 11:22

Has anyone had the mirena (sp?) coil fitted? Ive just been put on iron tablets and the doc said it could be to do with my periods. HE said the mirena coil would make them lighter or stop altogether.
What's the best contraception, I don't want to take the pill and ive already had an implant a few years ago.
TIA

I'm thinking about having the mirena coil fitted. It usually does make you periods lighter or stop altogether, you don't have to remember anythink like on the pill and your fertility comes back immediately after you have it removed. Sounds good to me!

Do a search on here for threads on mirena coil (top of the page > find discussions > search for messages)

There have been loads of threads on this. Lots of people seem to have problems with it and lots don't.

Me and dh use condoms and he will get the snip after baby no.2 because I can't use any type of hormonal contraceptive any more - but everyone's different.

Can you not have another implant if it worked for you before?

We use condoms and I don't react well to them, never mind dh. The implant was good but the doc found it very difficult to take out. It had kind of become part of me.
I will do a search though, it's always good to hear stories from others before making a decision. Thanks xxxx
