Can someone have a look at my ECG please?

I used my DHs watch to take a reading and it looks completely different to his, at first he told me I wasn’t doing it right or I had it on the wrong wrist but when we swapped everything about it still looked completely different to him and it’s made me wonder if I need to be concerned. I don’t want to rush off to the doctors given the strain they are under at the moment so if someone who is used to looking at them could cast their eye over mine and tell me not to be so stupid, I’d be grateful. I’ll put mine first, then DHs for comparison.

Oh, and this was taken first thing, in bed, no exercise had been taken.

Hard to read but the rhythm strip looks peachy, nice sinus rhythm. Whatade you do it? Any problems or symptoms?

Bagelsandbrie · 22/01/2021 08:51

It looks like it hasn’t been done correctly. I’m not an expert though but I have had a lot of ecgs and heart investigations! I would ignore it unless you have other symptoms - palpitations, missed beats, breathlessness....?

WeeMadArthur · 22/01/2021 09:03

No symptoms made me do it, I was just being nosey and having a look at what the watch could do, I’d had it on overnight to track my sleep. So it doesn’t matter that it looks so different to DHs?

Impossible to say without seeing your dhs? Is is the right hand one your dhs and the left yours? Just looks like artefact but if you look at the rhythm on the bottom row it is the same - identifiable P waves, qrs complexes and T waves. The analysis says sinus and it appears regular and normal rate

WeeMadArthur · 22/01/2021 10:05

The first one is mine, the second is DHs, it’s reassuring that it looks normal, even if it doesn’t look like his

Does your DH exercise? If you've no symptoms then I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't look like a totally normal ECG but I'm neither a doctor or know if you've done it right or know how accurate an Apple Watch is.

WeeMadArthur · 22/01/2021 12:22

@StormcloakNord he exercises less than me!

I'm not sure then! At a first glance his looks normal & healthy and yours doesn't.

But there's so much that could be at play. It might not be registering right, it might not be picking up your pulse properly, it might not be relaying it properly. If you feel absolutely fine & have nothing you feel is wrong then chances are nothing IS wrong. Nobody on here could really comment on it accurately, even a doctor would need their own reading with their own equipment to be able to talk about it really!

Greybeardy · 22/01/2021 12:43

these things don’t give you a proper ecg - it’s just a rhythm strip - all it can reliably comment on is whether it looks like sinus rhythm or AF. There are many many reasons for variations in morphology. If you have symptoms you should see someone who can perform a proper test and interpret it in the context of your symptoms & examination.

Thank you both, I had no health worries till I saw the results so I think I’ll stop worrying now!

Which is absolutely the right response unless you have symptoms. My fitbit has me dead fairly often and well here I am. Do NOT out the watch back on.

I'm not sure whether the ECG function is a good thing or not. I've been getting palpitations from time to time although otherwise feel really healthy and sometimes my ECG looks really weird (see pic) but I don't actually know whether to bother a doctor or if it's just a gimmicky thing?

My OH showed me his and his rhythm looks totally different to mine although "normal" for him.
