Rash that doesn't fade

hi

A couple of months back my ds2 had a rash that didn't fade under pressure and was admitted to hospital, he presented as a well child with no other major symptoms and after 9 hours and some blood tests he was discharged with no real diagnosis. Well today this rash has returned on torso and don't know what to do, he is irritable but otherwise okay, don't want to ignore but can't help but feel it is the same and will get same response as last time. Anyone heard of anything like this before??

Hi mykidsmum,
don't have much to add but didn't want to ignore your post as I know you're probably worried.
When my ds was about 9 months he was poorly and had a similar rash. The dr sent him to the hospital - mainly as a precaution I think. He had blood tests (for meningitis etc) and was kept in overnight. He was fine - it was just a bad virus. He was very ill with it though and I'm glad we went to the hospital as they could monitor better than me! He was limp and when he was awake he was vomiting.
I think with that type of rash it is best to at least speak to a doctor. Phone your surgery - a gp will probably call you back.
I had heard that there are 1000's of viruses out there and once you have caught one you are then immune to it. So it is probably not the same as he had last time although similar. I would get him checked out.
Does he have a temperature?

Found out on friday that my ds was allergic to eggs and his rash is similar to what you describe. Could it be something irritating the skin? (such as washing powder, soap) or something he has recently started eating again?

I agree that you need to get him checked out.I would phone your doctors

you should definately speak to a Dr, if it was anything serious you would never forgive yourself. Even if things turn out the same as last time, it is worth it.
When DD was 11 months old, she had the rash that didn't fade all over her face, she was kept in hospital overnight and discharged the next day with no diagnosis, you just have to check either way. Let us know what happens.

hello jst had a doctor round who is quite happy for me to keep an eye for now, obviously if anything happens eg sudden temp or anything then to act straight away. definately think the whole allergy thing is a possibility, mainly as it has reoccured, so will look into what he has eaten recently. Thankyou lovely people for your advice.
Much Love xxxxxxxxx
