urgent impetigo help

barbapapa · 26/10/2007 19:05

Just returned from docs with fucidin h cream for impetigo on dds face. He said give it a day and if it does not get any better use the oral penicillin.
Thing is I am not sure if he wants me to use both. By the time we got home it looked worse as dd has cold and it constantly touching it ( I know it is very contagious..)
So gave her the cream and first dose of penicillin but now I am thinking maybe I should just give her the one? Ie not the cream if she has the penicillin? Also gave her some piriton to stop her itching her face.
Anyone know? Too late to ring the docs now.

Yes i'm 99% certain its normal to use both to treat impetigo. Its not nice is it? Hope it clears up quick! Remember to wash towels, pillow cases frequently and keep them separate from the rest of the family.
How old is your dd?

I don't think plasters are a good idea as it just makes it sweat and feel really uncomfortable ( i tried it myself when i had it years go!). And i would assume keeping it covered would encourage bacteria to grow?

I have always used both together.
