Was anyone a pharmacist or doctor in late 1970s?

When I was young, I remember my great grandmother having medication that was dark brown granules - she used to call it mouse droppings. I think I remember her saying it was Valium but that may be my mind playing tricks on me.
Does anyone remember this medication and what it might have been?

Senacot used to come in a tin and was brown granules. It was vile stuff.

I vaguely remember by late Mum taking something similar, pretty sure it would have been for constipation.
