Jasper, how did it go. Sorry I haven't been on since you had your op - very busy with working again which was a bit of a shock to the system. Anyway, sigh of relief (not really), but the contract has ended today, and I'm down to one day a week from next week. Great, more time for Mumsnet.

Anyway, enough of me, tell me all about it. Was it bad? Does it still hurt? When does the plaster come off? What are you doing to keep busy, and have you got lots of help and support?

There you are, I will keep you busy answering all of these questions (only joking).

Last of all of course, how is the diet going?

Seriously now, I hope you are thinking that it will be worth it - I am sure it will. LOL

AliH, you're a sweetie!
Glad to have you back.
Work does get in the way of mumsnet, doesn't it?
It went okay I think. I confess I was pretty nervous about getting it done in case my feet got messed up worse.
I was mightily relieved to wake from the anaesthetic ( fear number one!) It was really sore for the first night. Morphine injections are wonderful things. I was in hospital for two nights and have been pretty housebound since.I need to wear the plaster casts for another 3 weeks. I can hobble around but tend not to as it makes them hurt.
I will let you know when the plasters come off if I have normal looking feet
The diet has slowed a bit as it is difficult to keep the momentum going when I can't stand up to cook for any length of time, but I did manage to reach my official WW goal on Monday (got dh to drive me )as I was fairly sure I had hit the target and wanted it recorded to inspire me not to let it slide while housebound.
Thanks for all your positive input.

jasper-those casts will weigh quite a bit, so your're probably lighter than you think!

AliH · 27/09/2002 14:29

Jasper, glad to hear it went well. The pain does get better, you will be running around with the casts on in a few weeks.

Tissy is right, I bet you have lost more than you think - great news.

Keep me posted on how it's going - feet and diet!
Good luck

Jasper - More work keeping me away, but I was thinking about you, and wondering how you are getting along.

Are the casts off yet? Will you be dancing this Christmas?

AliH I am about 3 months post surgery and have already started dancing. I am delighted with my new feet. They look great, they feel good, and I am so pleased I got it done , even if it was pretty sore for a while.
Thanks for all your support

Yes,I reached my goal and went a bit below it but have really been making up for lost time over the past two weeks.
Will go back for the weigh in on Jan 6th and will probably get a shock
