Anyone in perimenopause? Could this be a peri symptom?

Does anyone suffer from digestive issues and can it be related to perimenopause?
Ive had IBS for many years but my digestive issues have become so, so much worse the last 3 years (I’m nearly 48).
I have so much gassiness, stomach pain, gurglings and rumblings and lots of burping.
I eat low fodmap, I only drink water, eat virtually the same foods every day. I don’t smoke or drink and walk every day yet still I have ongoing gut issues.
Last summer I had a gastroscope with biopsies, a colonoscopy, a ct scan and ultrasound scan. All came back ok.
Last month I paid to see a private gastroenterologist. He wasn’t interested and said it’s just IBS!
It even wakes me in my sleep several times a month with gurglings and growling stomach.
I get about 3-5 ‘good’ days per month with minimal symptoms but have no idea what I do on those days (I keep a food dairy).
I can only think it’s hormones which are causing it?
Its really getting me down. I am sitting here this morning with stomach pains and burping loads even with just sipping water (it’s the first day of my period).
Any suggestion what I can do to help? Does anyone else suffer like this?

Yup. I had this from Jan to about Oct this year, like you was referred and they are sure it is IBS. However, I went gluten free (was already dairy free) and it has completely resolved which has taken me by surprise. I do think it was hormonal/stress related and it might be coincidence, but I do believe going gluten free solved it (not immediately, took a couple of months). Am also aware that this has been a super stressful year (and other things causing even more stress...)

Hormones definitely affect our digestive system, I get constipated before I'm due and the extreme opposite when I start. Add that to IBS and it could explain what you're experiencing.

One thing that helps me is yoga. There are videos specifically for digestive health, that help massage the organs and release the gas. On YouTube, look up Yoga with Adriene and digestion, there are several different ones.

sosotired1 thank you, just knowing others have had this during this time is reassuring. I haven’t had dairy for decades and have gone gluten free in the past but really need to try it longer. Wont lie, it’s been an awfully stressful year what with the virus but a death in the family and I look after my mum who has Alzheimer’s. I suppose this all takes its toll on the poor digestive system 😩
orf1abc I get those symptoms before and during too. I must try yoga, I always say I will. Thanks for that.
