Hi there, I know what you're going through. Mine was a nightmare. So bad I booked a doctors appointment. However, before going to see the doc I read up a bit on t'internet and is said that they give you Anti-depressants for it which I wasn't keen on doing. So..I cancelled the doc and went decided to try the herbalvitamin root first.

I now take Magnesium OK which is in the Womens Health section of Boots (£10 for 90 tablets - take one a day) and a herb called Agnus Castus which I got online at a site called Just Vitamins.

These 2 have changed my life!! I am not kidding. I was a real moody/depressed bitch around my period before and now I can't even tell when its due.

Everyone in my family is relieved too.

Sorry, meant 'route'.

jhyesmum · 23/10/2007 19:04

Hi Phantom - Thanks for that. I'd much rather go the herbal route, defo don't want the anti depressants!

It has just got so much worse - even DH has said that he has never seen me like it. We've been together for 10 years and we've been through loads of crap together (i.e. my mum dying of cancer, money troubles....you know the score), but i've never been like this!!

Evil!!!!

I'll definatley follow this route!! Thanks!!

Yes I know what you mean. I had really irrational mood swings and behaviour, life was just hideous,.....I was all teary and emotional too, it was just horrible going through it each month. It was foul.I was beginning to think I was suffering with a personality-type disorder or something!

IF you are sure it is definately linked to your periods (ie comes on the week before-ish and symptoms disapear when or on about your period comes)then definately try those things I've mentioned.

Don't expect instant results though, they do take about a month to kick in!

Good luck, be intersting to see if they work for you to.

PS Tell your DH I accept anything made by Cadburys by way of a thankyou!

jhyesmum · 23/10/2007 20:10

LOL!! Yes, it's defo PMT, period will come with a flurry in a few days and i'll be cool as a cucumber but very tired!! can't win!

Choc shounds good - i'm loving the caramel one at the mo. However, my waist line defo doesn't!!

Thanks again!!!!!

Agnus Casus. Get it from the chemist of Holland and Barratt. Been used for donkeys years and it really does help.

jhyesmum · 23/10/2007 20:12

thanx nab!!

Are you going through a stressful patch generally?

I had bad PMT for about 1 yr (GP gave me the pill but just gave me headaches so stopped). Has improved as DCs have got a bit older (too right I'm blaming them) and life has calmed down a bit.

Thats not any use as advice though is it?

jhyesmum · 23/10/2007 20:18

Hi Spooky - I suppose i am a little more highly strung than normal as I lost my mum in may (only diagnosed with cancer in march, feck). But, i think i've handled that quite well (hard faced cow that i am).

Thing is i know i'm doing what i'm doing and as soon as the bitch arrives i'm fine!!!

Magnesium, and I swear by Jan de Vries female essence. You put the drops in water and sip it during the day. I put mine in my tea and everything else! It doesn't taste and you can get it from most chemists.
Oh, and a bar of Galaxy, of course

BarbieGirl · 23/10/2007 20:28

Does anyone know if Agnus Castus comes in liquid form? I really can't swallow tablets and I have heard they are big.

jhyesmum · 23/10/2007 20:29

Wow boolepew - never heard of that. Anything is worth a go!! Thanx!!

ThePhantomToiletFlusher · 23/10/2007 20:31

I take Agnus Castus, I ordered mine on-line from Just Vitamins and I can swallow them whole (without water). And I am usually crap at taking tablets. They are about the same size as a smartie.

They are tasteless but they don't half pong though....

BarbieGirl · 23/10/2007 20:32

Thanks Phantom. The ones in Holland & Barratt are huge.

Is just vitamins the cheapest around?

spookyspice · 23/10/2007 20:34

Shit Jhyesmum thats .

Try all these tips (I keep buying stuff then forget to take it!) and use that time-o-the-month to cut yerself some slack(long baths etc) and put off any crappy jobs (housework) or big decisions til AF comes. Thats how I cope.

ThePhantomToiletFlusher · 23/10/2007 20:37

Barbie - Yes, I looked a few months ago on-line. Can't remember how they compared price-wise with other web-sites but they would have been cheap as I am a a bit of a tight-arse.

I think I got them because they have the highest concentrate of Agnus Castus in them...some other ones are quite weak..I felt my PMT needed tacking with high strength ones!

I really recommend them together with "Magnesium OK" (got that from Boots - although you can pick it up elsewhere..even e-bay I think).

jhyesmum · 23/10/2007 20:39

Spooky - that's life unfortunatley , miss her like crazy but i still have a fab daddy.

I will chill myself out i think!! f* the house work for a change!!

Thanks phantom, i've just been on just vitamins and they look really resonable. I am such a child when it comes to swallowing tablets!!

I have been told magnesium ok & agnus castus is great for pmt. I have just noticed this so will go and buy some tomorrow. Willing to try anything. Doctor said its prozac if all else fails and I don't want to go there unless I am desperate. My SIL has been prescribed this & is afraid to take it.
