Folic acid and upset stomach

I am taking 5mg once a week (Not pregnant, another health issue) and had diarrhoea twice after taking it. From what I have read, this seems unusual. Has anyone else experienced this?

@Miamarshmallows Hiya just wondering how you've been getting on with the folic acid? I started two weeks ago and since about 5 days ago I have the most horrendous stomach and abdominal cramps that has literally got me running to the loo about 8 times a day. The pain is intense and is worse at night time when I lie down . I stopped the folic acid yesterday to see if it really is that which is causing it .. did you stop? Wondering how long it takes to get out of my system so that these cramps stop!
