I did for my eldest DD,told her that I'd bought some and then just tucked them at the back of her underwear drawer until she needed them. She hasn't asked or expressed any interest in tampons but I will let her take her lead.

Will do the same for my other two DD when it's getting towards that time.

my mum got me tampons when i was 13, we were going on holiday when my period would have been due, so she got me them so i ould go swimming.

Mum got me pads just incase when i was 10.

Magdelanian · 21/10/2007 22:12

Yes, I bought pads in before the event and told her where they were kept, "always" with wings. DD was only just turned 11. All her friends use pads and wont use tampons yet at 13/14 but the manufacturers say that tampons can be used from day one!

Our school did the period talk in year 5 and dd came home to tell me that I had to get her some, because the teacher had suggested they all carry them with them, just in case! She had the same one in her bag for over a year!

expatinscotland · 21/10/2007 22:14

i used tampons from the first period.

i was 11 and very into ballet.

NO WAY i was going to use pads.

the older dancers told all us younger dancers about tampons and how to use them.

My dd complains that the Always ones are a bit big for her small under carriage (iykwim!) and I found some special teenage pads in Wilkinsons.

expatinscotland · 21/10/2007 22:22

get her a mooncup .

MaureenMLove · 21/10/2007 22:32

Ooo, no! Something just doesn't sit right with me about mooncups! (Obviously its the way I'm doing it!)

Elasticbandstand · 21/10/2007 22:32
