Impetigo anyone?

Hi there
I'm hoping some of you clever ladies might be able to help me. My 2yo DD has got what I think might be impetigo on her chin. This time last week she had what I thought was an isect bite on her chin - we were at an open farm last weekend and I put it down to that. I have tried an antibiotic cream on it but no change. The same thing happened to her in May of this year - she got bitten on her cheek and it got infected and needed oral antibiotics to clear it up. I suspect the same thing is needed again and intend taking her to GP in morning. In the meantime, are there any of you with children who have experienced this - I'm anxious that she has some kind of serious immunity disorder which prevents her from self healing. My husband says I'm being ridiculous and a drama queen. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

It could just be that the two are not connected at all. Might it be a cold sore? I'm not a doctor, so don't quote me, but she certainly will need ab's. I think its probably unlikely that she has a disorder, you'd probably have bigger signs of that by now. Stop worrying and get to the GP's tomorrow, he'll put your mind at rest I'm sure.

Hi Plus

My 3 year old DS2 has had this twice.

Does your DD 'pick' her wounds? Mine does!
My doc said to me that everyone has the impetigo causing bugs on their skin and it's only a problem when they get it into a wound, hence my son picking at his cuts all the time!

After some antibiotics it cleared in 2-3 days.

Hasn't recurred but I am always telling him not to pick!
