Are all stitches/ wound dressings dissolving now ? .or do some have to be pulled out ?

Ds had a big opperation 12 days ago .
Lots of stitches.
Due to see the nurse in a few days .
What is the differences in the stitches?

Sorry ..just need to ne prepared.

there's a few different types of sutures and different suturing techniques. the nurse will have that info in the files.
not sure what your asking really. you go and she will tell you more.

Ds likes to be preparec for these thing .

If they are nylon sutures it will partly depend on the suture pattern hopefully they are simple interrupted ( through either side of skin and knot) or cruciate ( little crosses) then a snip near the knot and slight gentle pulling sensation as the suture is pulled through not painful.
Hopefully not Ford interlocking ( blanket stitch) one single long piece of thread a knot at either end has to be pulled all the way through. Most commonly use when fast closure is required.
I put in and take out sutures and have had a fair few myself.

Hi there. They're not all dissolving. I had to go and have some taken out of my face a couple of months ago (BCC surgery). I'm always nervous about having stitches removed, but I can honestly say that it didn't hurt.

I’ve got staples all over my tummy. They get pulled out on Wednesday.
