Sudden body acne and lumps and bumps on scalp and underarms

minnie465 · 06/12/2020 13:09

Hi
In the past two weeks I've developed an acne like rash all over my chest, my upper back, top of my right arm.
I've also developed dandruff. Have had painful lumps on my scalp that have went away but now I have two new ones. And a couple of red lumps under each armpit.
I also had a couple of small ones my pubic hair mound last week.

I read up online and thought maybe it is a fungal infection. So I've been using nizoral shampoo and boots tea tree and witch hazel back spray. It's only been a week and a half but little improvement. Itchiness seems to be gone though.

Help!!

Anyone?

Is it only on the one side?

Toilenstripes · 06/12/2020 14:37

I ask because it could be shingles. But also dermatitis. Try using olive oil. Sounds strange but I have strange acne on my abdomen and I use olive oil to heal it. I read it kills the infection?

minnie465 · 06/12/2020 14:48

Just googled shingles. Definitely not that.

Possibly this?

minnie465 · 06/12/2020 15:02

Could be @BurpsTheDragon. I hope not. Do you think that would cause dandruff and lots of small spots too though?

You need to ring your dr.

minnie465 · 06/12/2020 15:44

Yes I know @Fluffycloudland77. Just wondering has anyone had similar experience. Don't want to be fobbed off with an antibiotic and maybe make it worse Doubt I'll get a face to face appt.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they called you in, it’s not often we erupt like this so you’ll be interesting compared to the “a dog bit my hand in 1973 & it was twinging last night so I thought I’d come in” patient.

Allthebubbles · 06/12/2020 22:58

It could be guttate psoriasis. Have you had a sore throat in the last month? It's triggered by strep throat. When I had my first outbreak in my twenties it took three visits to the doctor to get it diagnosed. I think they said scabies first and then allergy and I think by the third week it had stopped looking like spots and looked more like small flat red patches and the doc recognised it. I had terrible scales on my scalp as well.

Allthebubbles · 06/12/2020 22:58

It was mainly on my torso but also tops of arms and legs.

Buzzthedragon · 06/12/2020 23:00

Hot tub folliculitis? Can be simply from your shower, doesn’t have to actually be a hot tub .

FamilyOfAliens · 06/12/2020 23:02

Why would you not get a face to face appointment?

I had a face to face appointment last week for a tiny lesion on my eyelid. I was worried it was a basal cell carcinoma, which I’ve had before. (It wasn’t).

minnie465 · 07/12/2020 22:32

What was the treatment @Allthebubbles? Did it go away. Yes I had a throat infection in October.

So many things it could be I suppose!
On a positive note, no new spots over the past couple of days

I've had 4 outbreaks of this over 15 years. The first two were quite bad and I had a combination of steroid cream and UVB light therapy. The last two were less and I just let them run their course, it took about 6 months to totally go.
I would go to the docs and see what they think.

minnie465 · 08/12/2020 18:08

@Allthebubbles I've googled images. Definitely not that. It's more like small acne spots. Thanks

Pityriasus rosea can suddenly occur on the torso. GP should ask you for a photo of this rash.
.

minnie465 · 11/12/2020 22:23

Just an update for anyone who might be interested. I didn't even go to the GP. A work colleague suggested that it is bacterial folliculitis and suggested I try hibiscrub (surgical scrub). Has cleared under my arms completely and seems to be clearing the rest up nicely!!

@Buzzthedragon you weren't far off the mark!! My hot baths probably caused it. Haven't had a bath now in a couple of weeks and really miss them

Yes, I had the same after a few spas and hot tubs on a European trip.
Glad it’s improved for you :)
