My 15 month old ds had an unusually bad case of croup last month

he was in hospital for 5 days extremely ill and his consultant mentioned he had a rather large liver and spleen

this was probably caused by the virus he had and they wanted to see him again in a months time to check his tummy

i took him back to the hospital this week for a checkup and liver and spleen are still large

now they want to do and ultra sound scan and blood tests

im really worried about this and fighting the urge NOT to go surfing for his symptoms as i know i will panic and assume the worst!

Has any one come across this before?

DON'T surf the net whatever you do. You will convince yourself of the worst possibility. AS the doctor said, it may still be the effects of the virus. Get the scan and tests before you start worrying, it may be nothing, it may be a number of non life threatening things. that is the most likely possibility. Try not to worry at this stage and best of luck.

his appointment for blood tests is not till mid Nov and they are sending scan appoint. out in the post so im left sitting around waiting and worrying. wish they could do the tests sooner so i have piece of mind.

If they (the doctors) were concerned about anything serious they would have giving you a much earlier appointment, not kept you waiting for weeks!

Don't worry, it is more than likely to be the after-effects of the virus. Perhaps that is why they are waiting until mid-November, to give the virus a chance to completely leave your ds's body.

Please don't worry (easier said than done)
