difficult to say with such little to go on.. but... pain in back of pelvis region or lower back which radiates down leg would indicate sciatic nerve pain. it may also be your sacro iliac joint. which is at the back of your pelvis, where you spine and pelvis meet, slightly to the left and right.

have you done anything strenuous recently?
are you pregnant?

I have prolapsed disc in my back and get terrible sciatic pain, which extends down the back of my leg to my foot.

if you can take NSAIDs ( ibroprofen) i.e. are not pg, diabetic or asthmatic ( most people know if they have an allergy. that is fairly good for pain releaf, in conjunction with either paracetamol or something stronger ( not asprin) if you have it.

Also, raising your knee slightly on a cushion may ease it a little. under both knees is more comfy.

HTH

sorry you are sore..its horrible, you cant get away from sciatic pain .. hope it a bit better tomorrow after a rest over night.

susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:04

also, is the pain at the front or the back?

trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:08

front, i have sacro iliac joint and sciatic nerve pain, but this is diffrent very diffrent i have been thinkink its my sciatic nerve pain, but its pain in front whats getting worse, i have took tranadol, and cocodamal 30 by 500 its not touching i also have hotwater bottel here, am just scraed i go to bed and its not that

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:11

is it nearer you groin?

susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:12

your groin

trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:13

yes and half way up pelvis

OP posts:
trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:14

am wondering if trapped nerve in groin now too, my pelvis still moves after having chloe 18 weeks ago ) i had spd)

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:19

I had SPD also, it can take (so i'm told) up to a year or more in some bad cases to completely resolve..

have you had a period yet?

trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:20

yes last week but i was late, two weeks befor i had to have after morning pill

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:22

do yu think it may actually be an ovarian pain, like an ovulation pain. that can be bloody painful... though not usually this long...

so difficult to say with out seeing you. you ought to get an appointment first thing at your GP or if no gp surgery tomorrow, is there an out of hours service at your hospital? some A&E dept have an gp out of hours to help with minor and more gp related medical needs.

if it is really distressing you, maybe call your gp number and speak to the local out of hours on call dr. they may be able to give you advice or examine you, or even prescribe something stronger for the pain.

susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:25

ok, ignoe my last post, it x post with yours.
would you describe your period as 'normal' ? it is possible, if you had the mornng after pill, that it might be an eptopic pregnancy.

tbh, i'd go to A&E sweetheart. if that is even a slight possibility you cannot leave that. sorry to sound dramatic.. its improtant you get that checked out.

trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:26

thank you am going to try and settle here take some more pain killers, and if no better in morning go to nhs direct, if i can last that long

OP posts:
trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:27

to tell truth thats what was worrying me, didnt want to say it, but would that cause leg pain to?

OP posts:
trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:31

can it?

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:33

yes it can cause all kind of referred pain. and down the leg. its all the nerves in that area.

Trace, i really wouldnt leave it over night if I were you. the pain is there now, and has been getting worse all day love. you have already taken fairly strong analgesia already with no effect.

I know its a total palaver, as you have a baby, but, if it were an ectopic, and i'm NOT saying it is... but IF it is, it could rupture, and cause serious complications to you now, and in the future.... could your Dh take you up there? or someone else?

maybe call your out of hours GP and see what they say, but, given where the pain is, and the recent history of an unusal ( late) period and moning after pill 2 weeks ago... i suspect they may say the same. do make sure you tell them that though, about the pill etc.

trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:41

phoning now nhs

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:44

good idea

good luck with it lovely. let me know what they say, adn what happens, at some point if you can? Im not off to bed just yet, but might be sooonish. I'll keep an eye out til I go though

susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:45

oh, and dnot forget to tell them about the groin type pain and the morning after pill 2 weeks ago.. v important.

dont mean to sound patronising, just i know what its like when you are a) worried, b) sore. easy to forget everything and just concentrate on the pain

good luck

trace2 · 20/10/2007 00:52

ok thanks waiting for gp to call she does not think am pg, but put through as urgent

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 00:59

i'm still here. just getting a glass of milk and feedin dd on the bed, so stil up for awhile! back in a mo...

trace2 · 20/10/2007 01:01

me thinks its my pelvis as spit a bit trapping a nerve

OP posts:
susiecutiebananas · 20/10/2007 01:15

although it horrible, i hope it is that and not an eptopic... any word back from dr?

trace2 · 20/10/2007 01:26

nope not yet

OP posts:
Cosmo74 · 20/10/2007 01:36

have you thought about ectopic pregnancy - it usually starts with a funny pain -sorry haven't read all post so someone might have suggested this - if you even think it might be this get to hospital - save your tube - i was too late and lost my tube but still got pregnant after it so don;t worry - but get seen soon - go to hospital and demand to be check out if you even think/suspect there might be a slight chance go and get check out.

Good luck
LOL Trish - please let us know how you get on
