i used to take microgynon which you have to take a 7 day break. with cerazette you have to take it ev every day. does that mean that 7 of the pills are actually dummy pills and they are to stop you forgetting to take the next pack?

noooo it just means that these pills arnt meant to have a break, like u i used to take microgynon 30, now im on cerazette, there is a difference in hormones which is why one is taken all the time and the other isnt

GreatHauntieWurly · 17/10/2007 17:46

yeah i think so, not sure where in the pack they are tho.

GreatHauntieWurly · 17/10/2007 17:47

oh well i got it wrong, tho i do know that cerazette are the only pill that i can take without side effects.

loopylou6 · 17/10/2007 17:49

it is a good but very annoying pill though isnt it? i have been on it for 3 years and sometimes i dont bleed at all for months, then all of a sudden i can bleed for up to 10 weeks

GreatHauntieWurly · 17/10/2007 17:51

have only been on it a few months, nd tbh was getting a little worried as I had had no bleed, which i'm told is normal, hope I dont bleed for weeks tho

thegrowlygus · 17/10/2007 17:53

cerazette is the mini-pill - progesterone only. microgynon is the combined pill which is oestrogen and progesterone.

There are no dummy pills in cerazette. They all contain the active ingredient. They stop periods because the progesterone stops the lining of the womb developing so there is nothing (or very little) to come away.

loopylou6 · 17/10/2007 17:58

so when i bleed for weeks does this mean the pill isnt working properly?

nappyaddict · 17/10/2007 18:07

its common to get irregular bleeding. i think because you don't have a period for so long and it all builds up.

Nope - just a thing with the mini-pill - they can all cause irregular bleeding.

thegrowlygus · 17/10/2007 19:10

As long as you are taking them regularly and according to the instructions they should be working fine.

bubblagirl · 17/10/2007 19:23

i'm on cerazette to stop me from bleeding as can't have other pills thats why you take it every day i have to take 2 a day now as started bleeding again continuously
